I. Don’t Rush…Wait!

We don’t trust…

We lean on our own understanding…

Proverbs 21:5 (MSG)

Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run; hurry and scurry puts you further behind.

Research

Proverbs 18:13 (NIV)
Spouting off before listening to the facts is both shameful and foolish.

Seek Advice

Proverbs 11:4 (NLT)
For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.

Be Unified

Proverbs 30:24-28 (NLT)
There are four things on earth that are small but unusually wise:
25 Ants—they aren’t strong,
but they store up food all summer.
26 Hyraxes[e]—they aren’t powerful,
but they make their homes among the rocks.
27 Locusts—they have no king,
but they march in formation.
28 Lizards—they are easy to catch,
but they are found even in kings’ palaces.

Act with Integrity

Proverbs 10:9 (NLT)

People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed.

Hear God’s Voice

II.Take a Step

If you trust God, lean on Him, acknowledge Him in everything, He has put you on a path.
Some of us are on the path, but standing still.

Proverbs 6:1-11 (NLT)

My child, if you have put up security for a friend’s debt
or agreed to guarantee the debt of a stranger—
2 if you have trapped yourself by your agreement
and are caught by what you said—
3 follow my advice and save yourself,
for you have placed yourself at your friend’s mercy.
Now swallow your pride;
go and beg to have your name erased.
4 Don’t put it off; do it now!
Don’t rest until you do.
5 Save yourself like a gazelle escaping from a hunter,
like a bird fleeing from a net.
6 Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones.
Learn from their ways and become wise!
7 Though they have no prince
or governor or ruler to make them work,
8 they labor hard all summer,
gathering food for the winter.
9 But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up?
10 A little extra sleep, a little more slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
11 then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

It’s time to act!

The point of the passage is finances and hard work, but it is also general wisdom.

If you know what to do…do it!

Start with one step.

2 Big Questions:

What is your next step?

  • Job: network, resume job board work on the side, make the full-time leap
  • House: arrange finances, get out of debt, repair current home, put house on the market, find a realtor
  • Marriage: go on a date, be intentional, buy a ring, talk with parents, Propose!
  • College: Research colleges, Determine budget, Apply for loans, Type of school?, Apply!

What is your why…
What is your reason to act?

III. It’s Never Too Late

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.

This verse does not say…if young, if perfect, if wealthy, if you’ve made lots of good decisions…

There Will Be a Future

Future
Our future is secure in Jesus.

The most important decision you can make…becoming a follower of Jesus.
