Soccer
Leo Gibson. As a young boy, Leo Gibson dreamt and prayed about becoming a professional soccer player. He played professional soccer in his home county, Liberia/West Africa. A rare talent, Leo was drafted at the early age of seventeen. Leo showed incredible talent and discipline. When civil war destroyed his country and ultimately his dream, Leo was not deterred. He instead drew inspiration from his faith and belief that Jesus would grant him his heart’s desire. Leo found refuge in the United States in 2002. It was at this time he became dedicated to his craft, developing a strict training schedule and focusing on his studies. During this time he began his rewarding career as a professional soccer player in the United States. Leo’s passion is mentoring young athletes so that they are not only equipped with skills for the soccer field, but also for life. Leo now plays for the Missouri Comets and helped lead them to their first ever MISL Championship in 2014, and finishing the regular season (2014) as team and league leader with 76 points with 24 goals and 25 assists.
