Join us at Cross Points Church during the month of June 2013 to answer these and other questions as we study men from the Bible who changed their families and the world for the better.

Great Women. Great Faith. BELIEVE.

Women of faith series at Cross Points Church in Shawnee KansasThe month of May is a great time to celebrate women. In honor of Mother’s Day, Cross Points Church is studying the stories of great women with great faith. Join us this month to be inspired by these stories.

Week 1: Deborah

Judges 4:14 – Deborah said to Barak, “Get up! For this is the day the Lord has given Sisera into your hands. See, the Lord has gone out before you.”

  1. God wants us to wait on Him.
  2. God wants us to take action.
  3. God wants us to rely on Him.

Week 2: Naomi

Ruth 2:20 – “The Lord bless him!” Naomi said to her daughter-in-law. “He has not stopped showing his kindness to the living and the dead.”

Naomi had every right to be bitter – she lost her husband and both sons. She was left with nothing. In fact, so bitter was her life, she changed her name to Mara (or Bitter).

Bitterness can lead to one of three things:

  1. Bitterness can knock you down.
  2. Bitterness can propel you forward.
  3. Bitterness can enable you to leave a legacy.

Naomi channeled the bitter things of her life as a propellent to leave a legacy. She did this by maintaining hope – hope in God. This hope led to faith. Naomi’s faith, though, did not come without risk.

Naomi risked the last bit of leverage she had on a distant relative – Boaz. It paid off! Naomi is forever known as King David’s Great, Great Grandmother.

Week 3: Woman with Issue of Blood

Luke 8:48 – “Daughter,” He said to her, “your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

Luke 8:50 – But when Jesus heard what had happened, He said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith, and she will be healed.”

There are three points we can learn from Jairus and this unnamed woman.

1. Fall down

Both the woman and Jairus humbled themselves before Jesus by falling down on their knees. We come to the feet of Jesus by humbling ourselves before Him.

2. Press in.

Both Jairus and the woman pressed in to see Jesus. They did not sit on the sideline but pushed through the crowds to connect with Jesus.

3. Don’t be afraid… Live your faith

Jesus told Jairus to not be afraid – just have faith. Faith is belief in action. The unnamed woman acted her faith out by touching Jesus’ robe.

Week 4:
